Brass Table Lamps
Brass table lamps can add a refined touch to any room. Lamps have been made of brass for decades and they retain that old world feel that brass has had for centuries. If you are looking to redecorate your home or even one of your rooms, adding a brass lamp into the new look will make the room feel like a whole different world.
Brass has traditionally been used for a variety of furniture or furniture parts. Bed frames and posts, coffee or end table legs, and soda or chair legs and feet are also often made of the metal. Its shine and subtle goldenrod color can either be the main attraction in a living room or bedroom set or it can be just one highlight of an equally attractive furniture set.
If you are considering getting a brass table lamp or any other furniture made of it there are some things to keep in mind, mainly the metal's upkeep. Brass gets tarnished very easily with time even if it has not been touched, though touching it does make the tarnishing process go faster. They must be wiped down every so often in order to continue to look brand new and clean. It is not required to purchase any special cleaners, a mixture of water and vinegar is effective enough to wipe down your brass furniture and keep it looking new.
Furniture made with or containing brass can either have a gold-like color or a color resembling copper. Both color variations are equal in popularity and they both look fantastic when surrounded by specific colors or furniture made with other types of material. If you are not sure which color to put in your home, look at the other furniture and decorations in the area. Are they brightly colored or more subdued? Copper colored brass will look better in rooms with more subdued and less eye-catching colors. The gold variations will look better with brighter colored decorations, such as blue, red, or white.
When choosing brass table lamps, look at how elaborate the other decorations in the area are. Brass lamps can come as just plan cylindrical lamps or they can be exquisitely designed to look like something an ancient royal family would have. There are styles in between but these two are the most prominent. If you are not sure of the room's look or feel, try to find a medium between the minimal and maximum detail and design on the lamp.
Adding one or two brass table lamps to a room is a sure way to make it feel like a brand new room, and to draw some attention when you have guests.
